LIHH CEO Ant Hanlon announces his retirement

Ant Hanlon, CEO of Leeds Irish Health and Homes, has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year after an incredible 30 years at the helm.

Ant has written a letter to the Leeds Irish community in which he says being there from the very beginning of the LIHH journey has been "the greatest honour" of his professional life - see below.

We thank Ant for his dedicated, visionary service and wish him all the best for his exciting new chapter when it arrives.

Ant, you’re some man for one man!

Statement from Rachael Loftus MBE, Chair of the Board of Trustees, on behalf of the organisation:

"Ant Hanlon began working for Leeds Irish Health and Homes in June of 1996 as our very first project worker. And after three remarkable decades of leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment, he has taken the decision to step down from the role of Chief Executive at the end of the year.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and all who are connected to LIHH, I want to express our deepest thanks for the extraordinary contribution Ant has made. Ant has truly led our organisation with integrity, generosity and authenticity and it is no overstatement to say that our community owes him a significant debt of gratitude.

Ant’s vision was for an organisation that could offer a helping hand and work with people to find their way through troubles, and to be a powerful voice for the Irish community’s health and housing needs. It is fair to say that he has achieved that and much, much more.

I sometimes wonder what that first committee would make of how the organisation has flourished these last 30 years, but I never doubt that they picked the very best man to be our steward. After 30 years, Ant leaves strong foundations, a litany of successful projects and many thousands of lives better for it.

We have secured the services of Peridot Partners to work with us on the difficult task of recruiting a successor and will release details in due course.

For now though, let me be the first to wish Ant every happiness in his next chapter when it comes, he more than deserves it. And I know his impact will continue to be felt for many more years to come."
